Swimmer, theorist, and melancholic poet, Sarah Hertz is finishing her English honours BA at the University of Calgary. She has worked as a research assistant since 2011, helping to design a first-year Shakespeare course in which students analysed Hamlet using online text analysis tools. This spring (in post-thesis celebration), she will attend a digital history seminar on the “Pre-digital Book” at UVic’s Digital Humanities Summer Institute. Sarah is a grateful recipient of a University of Calgary PURE award, and this summer she will work with Maria Jaramillo on Michael Ullyot‘s project, The Zeugmatic: a text analysis tool for identifying rhetorical figures in Shakespeare. Sarah will continue to pursue her passion for old books next year by completing an MPhil at the University of Cambridge in Renaissance literature.
